Early August gains in the Japanese stock market on market optimism of easing inflation fears and monetary policy prospects were later quelled by the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium. TOPIX 12 month forward PER stayed at 12x.
April-June quarter earnings results were slightly ahead of expectations.
We remain cautiously optimistic, in principle, on Japanese shares against the backdrop of resilient earnings and attractive valuation levels.
