The UK’s biggest celebration of jazz, the EFG London Jazz Festival, revealed the full programme for 2024 at the official launch in London on Monday, 16 September. This year’s vibrant line-up explores every corner of the jazz world, from celebrated global icons to homegrown talent emerging on the UK jazz scene.
The Festival begins in style with the spectacular opening night gala, Jazz Voice, at the Royal Festival Hall on Friday, 15 November. This year’s glittering array of soloists includes acclaimed British actor, musician and producer Damian Lewis; renowned Brazilian singer Marisa Monte; American jazz and be-bop vocalist Veronica Swift; Incognito’s lead singer Tony Momrelle; Vancouver based singer songwriter IAMTHELIVING and rising UK stars Lucy-Anne Daniels and Cherise. They will be accompanied by the 40 piece EFG London Jazz Festival Orchestra, led by conductor and arranger Guy Barker.
Jazz Voice is the first show in the EFG Elements Series, four shows we hand pick every year in conjunction with the organisers Serious, to reflect the richness and diversity of the Festival programme. Other shows in the series include legendary singer songwriter Jamie Cullum, who returns to the Royal Festival some 20 years on from when he made his Festival debut; and Imelda May, one of the UK and Ireland’s most famous female jazz vocalists. Celebrated Italian jazz-soul singer Mario Biondi brings the series and the Festival to a close on Sunday, 24 November.
Christian Berchem, CEO, EFG Private Bank Ltd said: “Once again in November, London plays host to some of the best jazz from the UK and around the world and we look forward to another ten-day celebration of live music. One of the reasons our long-standing partnership with the EFG London Jazz Festival stands the test of time is that we aspire to share many of the same values, such as collaboration, innovation and diversity, and the Festival brings them to life in a memorable way.”
“As this year’s rich and varied programme demonstrates, there is always something new to discover, in particular from the exciting new generation of young artists emerging on the scene. The Festival so often acts as a springboard in their professional careers, a valuable legacy that reinforces our ongoing commitment to talent development and the creation of new music.”
Festival Director, Pelin Opcin, added: “It’s our pleasure to announce the full EFG London Jazz Festival 2024 programme. This November, London will come alive with some of the world’s biggest jazz names as well as major headliners, emerging UK artists and musicians from all corners of the globe, unique collaborations, new work and tributes to late-greats. This is our 32nd edition and with our 16-year partnership with EFG, we feel the strength and confidence to build up towards the future thanks to our shared vision.“
